I wrote this song years ago after seeing a local band play in town and all they could talk about was how their next show was in Atlanta and how this show was good practice for them. I thought about how sad that was that they didn't care about making their local audience feel appreciated nor did they seem to be grateful for an opportunity to share the music that they had hammered out in a practice space for anyone. Playing out of town can be exciting and provides many a taste of what it is like to tour but, we should always be excited to share our music on the home front and be appreciative that those we see regularly would take time to come see us play instead of doing anything else. That being said, thanks to everyone who has taken time to support local music, bought a local album, shirt, button, sticker or driven to see a hometown band in a different city. On behalf of anyone who has ever picked up an instrument in a garage, basement, or wherever, thank you, thank you, thank you for coming and supporting us!!! -Gerren
Before this was an Aardvark Park song, it was a part of my solo setlist, then a part of GF&EE and was recorded for my full length album.

lyrics
You beat all I've ever seen,
talking down to me
like i don't know what it's like to have dreams.
I've seen the lights downtown
and I've poured sweat on that stage
but good songs changed their sound
and we all just fade away in memories
well tonight, we're gonna do all we can
to make you feel alive in this godforsaken town
everyone is a musician, that don't mean
they know how to play songs that make us want to
be ourselves. So we hammer out our chords
and do our own thing but it's all been done before or
so it seems.
